Katalyst was formed in September of 2007, when its members met at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. They have been writing and performing Christian rock music for the last 3 1/2 years. The members formed Katalyst to be a vehicle to change lives for the Kingdom of God. The band is a multi-denominational group of worshippers, drawn together by their love for God and their love for music. They believe that they are called to love the lost, and found, through their music, their participation, and investment into, the lives of those who hear them. They believe that their actions, on and off the stage, should always serve to build the community of believers, and accept and attract the community of non-believers. It is Katalyst's prayer that their listeners see the person of Christ, and the person He created them to be.
God has provided Katalyst some incredible opportunities during this time, and they are eternally grateful to Him for his guidance and covering over their ministry. Some of the highlights of the last 6—12 months include:
• Performing on the internationally televised ICM Awards Show alongside such performers as Ricky Skaggs, Jason Crabb, Point of Grace and David Keith
• Placed their first two national single releases on Independent Christian Radio Charts with their first single “Searching” reaching #3 and their second “Woah” at #4 through May 2010
• Their original song “Woah” was selected as a top 5 finalist for the Independent Music Awards Contemporary Christian Song of the Year 2009.
• Worked with the incredible Tom Jackson, live music producer, in order to learn to better communicate with their audience and improve their stage skills
• Played 107 different shows in 2009, including three trips to Nashville where they performed twice at the legendary Wildhorse Saloon for industry and media events, and twice at TBN studios
• Spent time in Los Angeles in February 2010 writing songs for their newest project with Grammy award winning writers David Hodges formerly of Evanescence, and Steve McMorran of Warner Music. Katalyst is currently working on a full length project and hopes to have it finished by Fall 2010.
Katalyst's members share a common passion for music surpassed only by their love for Jesus. Consequently, they strive to create music that is relevant, fun, uplifting, and honoring of the one true God.
