About Crosstown 2
CROSSTOWN 2 Blues Duo is comprised of Gary Rubenstein on guitar & vocals, and Bob Lesher, on harmonica & vocals. Gary and Bob have worked together, playing Blues on stage, and in the recording studio, with various bands since 1991.
In taking over the guitar chair in 2015, Gary added a second vocal to the duo, along with slide-guitar, and a new range of material. He worked and recorded a CD with The Lifters, a Blues band he and Bob were part of, 1993-95. The band later appeared at the 1995 Doheny Blues Festival. Outside Crosstown 2, Rubenstein is musically very busy, being involved with three different band projects
Lesher has been in Crosstown 2 since it's inception. He has been a working musician and songwriter since 1965, playing in Canada and the Southern California area. In 2000 Lesher was co-writer of all material on the critically-acclaimed Tupelo Blue CD, and in 2009 he was inducted into the Victoria Music Hall of Fame, in British Columbia, Canada.
The semi-acoustic duo plays a mix of traditional and modern Blues, and adds new material to its song list on a monthly basis
Crosstown 2 was formed in mid-2011 to play venues that could not accommodate a full band. The concept has been successful and the duo has performed very steady in the OC/LA areas since its inception. This includes top venues such as The Lumberyard Restaurant, in Laguna Beach, The Blue Beet, in Newport Beach, OC Wine Mart in Yorba Linda & Aliso Viejo, The Marine Room, in Laguna Beach, and The Packing House, in Anaheim. For three years running, since 2013, the duo has been a featured act at Brea Jazz Festival.
